Friday, January 11, 2008 - New CD mix for POPULISTIC JAZZOLISCIOUS
The Baggage has changed, the vibes are good, we grow and evolve! Things are good for the TEX, we are having a lot of small successes and people love our music. After New Year 2008 we are working on a new CD mix for POPULISTIC JAZZOLISCIOUS, thanks to Kennedy Recording, in Creemore. And a special thanks to SUNFLOWER STUDIO in Brentwood too. Check it out its a great studio and great people, so is KENNEDY. We still have a bunch of great people playing with us, Russ, Mark Rutherford, Peter, sometimes Besh… People really dig the new type of music we put out. It's not drony or loud or jittery; it's pop rock, pop jazz, folk jazz. I'm sorta headed towards a folkier style of writing and we are recording 13 new tracks in the Spring. Currently we are on CBC RADIO3's web site - check that out under "New music".
Some of my newer songs are about China, Global Warming, Tasers, being at Home, Dictators, and other ugly earthly events that rear their head all too often. WE still keep it upbeat, swinging only with more guts and brawn, braen, bra on … We are still playing around central Ontario and in the spring we are doing a few gigs in Toronto, just for the schmooze…
My new outlook on life is be thankful you are alive and for everything around us. We are lucky we have what we have, could be living in Communist Newfoundland… or something! WE are lucky although the global thing is Very, very eminent… I think we are all on that! We appreciate all the people who gave us gigs in the past and try to please our audiences with quality music. We've really come to appreciate all the wonderful people we meet who like our stuff. It's always nice running into them and then getting sued! HA!
One performer I'm in touch with is Colleen Rae from Alberta, who worked so hard with her team and friends; she got everybody to call the radio stations in Alberta and ask for her song. I think she made the top ten at a few stations and won a few awards in country music. If I had any friends I'd probably try that.
I plan on blowing a lot of people away with our new songs to be recorded in the spring! This stuff is really, really different. Its folkier, very strong and extremely dynamic… the words, too, are more poetic, more meaningful.
I want to say hi to TED at Ted's Range Road Diner, who gives us regular gigs on Friday nights. We love Ted and he loves us. NO –ONE can cook like Ted and he is one of the most famous Restaurateurs in CANADA! Try the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding.
Hey, what about Sylvan at The Riviera Steak House on HWY 26 just north of Wasaga! You couldn't meet a nicer guy with a truly great chef – totally unreal – and a great staff. Sylvan opened a streak house across from an already established steak house. That takes Guts!
SO! I've put on ten pounds and can't get into my pants. Hey I can't get into anybodies pants!
SO! People like our CD and think it's pretty good. Honestly! It doesn’t blow me away but it's really good. WE recorded in 8 hours at Sunflower. Thanks to Keith! HEY, there are some truly great musicians in the Collingwood, area and Wasaga too. We love em all and we are all family and friends, a part of the local circle of artists, which we are honoured to be a part of. When I started going to jams I met some really wonderful people …
SO! We've been all over the place some work some play… its just music, but a lot of people really like us. If any one sees Paris Hilton, tell her to call me, I miss her.
See you soon,
- RG the J A Z Z T E X !

Thursday, January 10, 2008 - RG's World (previous stuff)
RG's World
RG's got a lot of baggage like everyone else and its always a struggle to get ahead in the music business. he just fights off the bad karma and keeps going.
its always a challenge, but JazzTex have the great sound, strong players, fresh songs and style it takes to make it in the music business. they are truly great and RG just keeps on going, keeps on working and keeps on playing. some people give JazzTex kind and caring advice even though success in the music business is becoming more and more a distant dream.
a lot of venues close, festivals shut down, things get cancelled and numbers are down, everywhere... Could it be because of terrorism, the war, "9-11" or just a very tired world, which has to work harder and smarter to survive? people aren't as keen to venture out into the night. but the cream rises to the top and the JazzTex are really great - great sound, great band, great tunes.
people love the music and the JazzTex are on their way to the top number one with a bullet.
